Upcoming News: Kakuriyo:Bed & Breakfast for Spirits manga!
I am an absolute fan of the anime series: Kakuriyo:Bed & Breakfast! Maybe it was the art style or maybe it was the words “bed and breakfast for spirits”, I did not hesitate checking this out on Crunchyroll and I was absolutely all in.
Viz media has just announced that they will be releasing the manga format on JANUARY 1., 2019! Am I excited?! So many levels of yes!!
Viz media’s summary of the anime:
‘In the series, Aoi Tsubaki inherited her grandfather’s ability to see spirits – and his massive debt to them! Now she’s been kidnapped and taken to Kakuriyo, the spirit world, to make good on his bill. Her options: marry the head of the inn her grandfather trashed or get eaten by demons. But Aoi isn’t the type to let spirits push her around, and she’s determined to redeem her grandfather’s IOU on her own terms!”
That summary is only just the smidgeon of what happens in the first episode. From there it becomes a story of the inn supernatural characters getting used to Aoi and ultimately being healed spiritually by her food. It’s really all about the food. If you are a fan of cooking shows like “Lords and Ladles” or “Greatest British Baking Show,” then this anime will be up your alley.
Kakuriyo:Bed & Breakfast is one of the most unique flavors of anime out there. It is a satisfyingly slow-paced anime showcasing the character relationships and most important of all: Aoi’s cooking. I’m not even sure if any of these dishes are real but her enthusiasm and happiness at just finding ingredients is so sweet.
This is a very light anime. It is is light in action, light in pacing, and very light in romance. Although there are some parts that can get your heart racing. It does make you wonder, why-oh-why, would Aoi not marry the Ogre king? Seriously??!? He’s handsome, sweet, and powerful. I volunteer as tribute!
Series will be available under Viz Media Shojo Beat imprint
