The Must See Movie of August 2017: Gook
As a huge supporter and fan of indie movies, watching Gook during the Los Angeles Asian Film Festivals was one of those pivotal and monumental moments.
Synopsis:
Eli and Daniel are two Korean-American brothers who own a struggling shoe store in South Los Angeles and have a unique and unlikely friendship with a young 11 year-old African-American girl, Kamila. The film is set on the first day of the LA RIOTS on April 29, 1992 forcing the three of them to defend their store while contemplating the future of their own personal dreams and the meaning of family.
Making an indie movie is steep hill to climb. To win awards and have the support of the fans is so key. So to see that Samuel Goldwyn Films will be distributing this movie across theaters nationwide is beyond impressive and deserves all of the support.
