Fiction and Other Realities
I love film festivals. It is such a great source of visual refreshment and innovative storytelling. It is also one of many places where I become a new fan of a creator. Thanks to Fangirl Nation, I was able to attend the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival as press and attend the red carpet events.
This is a bit out of order, since I attended the red carpet event for Fiction and Other Realities after the main event but I am still grooving to the music and I must share this!
FICTION AND OTHER REALITIES is a movie written and co-directed by Bobby Choy that is semi or somewhat based off of his life. A young Korean-American songwriter is living the struggling artist life in New York. He takes on a roadie gig with his best friend's rock band. Everything is going well until he lands in Korea. There his sense of identity is shaken as he is surrounded by people who look just like him. He decides to stay in Korea. Along with his new female friend...
However the small the seed of truth is, I absolutely love the movie. It was all kinds of adorable with it's cartoon graphic and drama. I was not familiar with Bobby Choy before the movie. After watching the film, I cannot stop listening to his music. It resonates so well with the need to look inward and reflect and then use all of that energy to create something
